What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy treatment

Osteopathy is a hands-on approach to healthcare that looks at how the body works as a whole. For this reason, osteopaths take a whole-person approach to health, considering not only physical symptoms but also lifestyle, posture, and general wellbeing as part of your care. People of all ages see osteopaths, from babies to older adults.

Osteopaths are skilled Health Professionals who assess, diagnose, and help manage problems involving the musculoskeletal system and its relationship with other systems in the body. Your osteopath will take the time to understand your health history, lifestyle, and individual needs before developing a personalised plan of care. This usually include hands-on techniques (manual therapy), but also tailored exercises, movement guidance, and practical health advice designed to support your recovery and overall wellbeing.

Osteopaths often work as part of a wider healthcare team and may collaborate with GPs, nurses, midwives, and other Allied Health Professionals to help ensure you receive the most appropriate and effective care. They will advise you if further medical assessment is appropriate and may refer you to another healthcare professional where needed.

Osteopaths are regulated by law in the UK and are recognised as an Allied Health Profession by NHS England. By law, all practising osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). This requires completing specialist degree-level training alongside extensive clinical practice, and meet strict standards including ongoing continuing professional development, ensuring their skills and knowledge remain up to date.

Sport Massage Therapy

Sports massage is a targeted hands-on treatment that works with the body’s soft tissues—such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments—to support recovery, reduce tension, and improve movement or physical performance.

Using a combination of manual techniques, including soft tissue release, stretching, and trigger point work, treatment helps to ease tightness, improve circulation, and restore flexibility.

Personal Training

Alongside osteopathy, I offer personal training at Form Personal Training studio, in Hackney, to help you move with confidence and improve your overall wellbeing.

I focus on combining exercise and movement in a way that builds body awareness, improves coordination, and addresses muscular imbalances. This approach can support recovery from injuries, prevent future issues, and help you move more efficiently in your daily life. Beyond the physical benefits, working on movement also helps manage stress, promotes mental wellbeing, and boosts self-confidence.

Every session is tailored to you, creating a safe, supportive environment where we work together to strengthen your body, restore balance, and enhance your everyday performance.
